Information from Celcon
H+H Celcon is the leading manufacturer of aircrete
building materials within the UK. We strongly believe
in the future of aircrete, which is why, we only make
and sell quality aircrete solutions, and being committed
to research and development, we have helped develop
aircrete into the versatile building material of today.

Lightweight auto claved aerated concrete (aircrete) offers
simple solutions that meet the demands of both the modern
construction industry and today's Building Regulations.
The benefits of aircrete are:
-
Thermal resistance
- Reducing the need for additional insulation Celcon blocks
offer significant cost savings at both time of build and
energy use when complete.
-
Strength
- Available in a range of grades up to 8.4N/mm2 aircrete
has impressive load bearing capabilities, making them
suitable for single and multi storey build.
-
Sound Insulation
- With both Robust Detail and Pre-Completion Testing solutions
houses, flats and apartments, aircrete's excellent sound
insulation properties make it ideal for controlling noise
transmission.
-
Fire resistance
- Independently certified as non-combustible they have
a class O resistance to surface spread of flame, the highest
classification.
- Sulfate resistance -
Celcon Foundation blocks can be used below DPC in either
solid or cavity format and are approved for use in soil
conditions up to DS4.
- Resists Damp penetration
- The millions of non-interconnecting air bubbles within
one Celcon block result in a high resistance to moisture
ingress.
- Frost resistance - The
micro-cellular structure of Celcon blocks offers remarkable
protection against the effects of frost.
- Workability - Lightweight,
easily worked, easily finished and easily fixed to.
Celcon blocks are available in different grades (Standard,
Solar and Hi-Strength) to suit all applications, offering
a selection of strength and thermal insulation properties
depending on applications they will be used for. The Applications
that Celcon
blocks can be used for are:
-
Foundations
- they can be used in cavity and solid solutions. Fully
loadbearing yet relatively lightweight they are BBA certified
for use below DPC.
-
Walls
- they can be used in cavity (as both the internal and
external leaf of blockwork), solid, internal, party and
flanking wall solutions.
-
Floors
- used as infill blocks within beam and block flooring
systems, Celcon's new flooring block reduces the number
of beams needed without compromising the strength or quality
of the floor.

Celcon Thin-Joint System
|
|
 |
 |
This combines Celcon's Plus blocks (a range of high quality
dimensionally accurate aircrete blocks), with Celfix, a
specially developed thin layer mortar. Celcon's thin joint
system can be used to increase productivity offering a comparable
build time
as framed construction, and improved thermal and sound performance.
