Leigh Bowen, Fifty Degrees North, Chertsey
Leigh studied under Sue Roaf at Oxford Brookes, combining energy efficient building and architecture, before spending many years working for Bill Dunster, specialising in green building and renewable energy technologies. Leigh worked on the multi award-winning BedZED eco village, from the first drawings to its completion, before designing and realising two eco exhibitions detailing the ZED concept and BedZED history. Other projects include research into existing building refurbishment, a concept for London’s first large-scale carbon neutral city block and low carbon social housing schemes and the award-winning Jubilee Wharf development in Cornwall. Leigh has since set up his own practice, Fifty Degrees North, in 2006, specialising in domestic works, new build homes, kit housing, refurbishment and green construction projects of all sizes.
