What’s On At The Big Green Home Show?

The Big Green Home Show 2009 will see an unprecedented number of experts, associations, seminars, case studies, live demos, and exhibitors all gathered together in one building to discuss one thing – making your new home ‘green’.

You’ll find three separate seminar theatres at the show, covering subjects such as Sustainable Energy Options, Eco Payback, Financing an Eco Project, Eco Planning, Case Studies, Eco Renovating and much, much more.

Our Build Live! demo areas will help you get a practical understanding of how many different products and technologies work; with our exhibiting partners demonstrating rainwater harvesting systems, under floor heating, solar power, insulation and heat recovery systems amongst others. In the Alternative Build Live! area, you’ll get a fantastic opportunity to get your hands dirty whilst building and plastering with cob and straw bales.

From here move into Expert Alley, where you’ll find a raft of independent experts waiting to share their years of experience with you. If you want more information on project management, energy efficiency, water usage, planning, design, or the Code for Sustainable Homes then this is the place to come. Don’t miss the Expert Hub, where our selected associations will be gathered to advise you on a range of subjects from using and sourcing eco-friendly tradesmen through to building zero-carbon homes.

Make sure you also pop outside during the show to see the innovative gardenARK in the External Compound along with the Potton Zone Studio.

Book ending the day are the Eco Walking Workshops run by eco experts Dave Hilton and Tim Pullen. Touring the Centre’s exhibits, these are the perfect opportunity to get an in-depth look at eco technologies and the issues affecting them, with an option to quiz the expert as you go.

Don’t forget to check out the other permanent features of the National Self Build & Renovation Centre (the UK’s only visitor centre of its type, open all year), including the brand new Wolseley timber-frame building, Potton Show Home, EDF Energy Renovation House, Self Build Audio Tour and the Trade Village as well as Financial Services, TradeCard and PlotSearch stands.
