About Anchor Speaker

David Snell

Acting as our main anchor speaker, David Snell will be presenting all of our self build and renovating seminars this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. With 45 years of practical and professional experience in property and self building, David is the acknowledged expert in his field. Contributing Editor to Home Building & Renovating Magazine, Weekly Columnist in The Daily Telegraph and Author of the best-selling book “Building your own home”, David will take you through each stage of the process and show you just how 1,000’s of other people achieve their dreams.

Tim Doherty

As Managing Director of BuildStore’s Building Support Division, Tim has worked for the last two years to set up and open the National Self Build & Renovation Centre. An accomplished self builder himself, Tim has worked for over 20 years with self build & renovation clients up and down the country, from small and elegant to large and stately and from first time buyers to retirement activists.

John Capper

A skilled carpenter, John literally built his first house himself during weekends and evenings whilst working full time during the week in specialist construction plant sales. Since joining BuildStore in 2002 John has worked with BuildStore clients and helped them to save £1,000’s off the cost of their materials in the process.  John is now on project number 2 but this time using other people’s help!

Dave Hilton

Acting as our main anchor speaker, David Hilton will be presenting all of our self build and renovation seminars this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. As Eco Building Advisor at the Centre, David is Corgi registered and has completed self builds in South Africa and renovations in the UK and is currently undertaking an MSc Architecture: Advanced Energy and Environmental Studies.

Mike Hardwick

Mike completed his own self build project in 2002 and is now an enthusiastic advocate of self building. To prove the point, he has recently joined the National Self Build & Renovation Centre as a Specialist Self Build Advisor and is keen to spread the word and to share his experiences with anyone else who shares the same dream. With no prior knowledge of the construction industry and holding down a day job during his own project, Mike is living proof that anyone with the motivation and self discipline to see a project through to completion can successfully self build their ideal home.

Nick Pearce

With a strong finance background, Nick currently manages the Finance team at BuildStore in Livingston. Nick is a fully fledged self builder himself, having completed his own self build project. Since joining BuildStore in 2003, Nick has enabled many BuildStore clients to achieve their dreams. By attending these seminars, you will find out from Nick how you too can make your self build dreams a reality.
