Duncan Mathewson, a qualified Chartered Architect with thirty years’ experience, established his Practice in May 1987. He is also a Director of ASBA Architects, Partner of Mathewson Waters Architects (Lambourn & Devizes) and Director of Four Square Design Ltd. Duncan has contributed articles to Home Building and Renovating, presented seminars on Architecture and Planning and contributed chapters to the Daily Telegraph Individual Homes Guide. Duncan’s Practice designed Michael Holmes’ (Editor in Chief, Home Building and Renovating) house on the edge of the Cotswolds and has assisted numerous clients in ‘self-build’ projects, ranging from barn conversions and traditional and contemporary new homes (including an underground swimming pool), through to house ‘make-overs’. In view of its site location on the edge of Berkshire Downs, his Practice designed and enlarged establishments for many racehorse trainers, including a new house for Mick Channon (former England football captain) as well as projects for Richard Pitman and John Francome. Currently creating a substantial new racehorse training establishment on the Marlborough Downs, including the owner’s dwelling exceeding 600 square metres in floor area. The Practice specialises in ‘marginal’ Planning applications, working in conjunction with Planning Consultants, Landscape Architects and Planning Barristers where necessary. |
