A self build in Elmbridge 'will bring a smile'

Self builders who are looking for a plot of land for their project could take a peek at Elmbridge in Surrey.

Residents in Elmbridge enjoy the best quality of life in Great Britain, according to the third annual Halifax Quality of Life Survey.

After ranking performance in areas such as the labour market, the property market, the environment, education and health, Elmbridge came top - followed by Mid Suffolk in the east of England.

Martin Ellis, chief economist at Halifax, said residents in the area "tend to be healthy, have high life expectancy, enjoy relatively high earnings and are highly likely to own their own home".

Four out of the top five places in the index are located in the south-east.

The survey found that South Norfolk, Baberge, Rochford and St Edmundsbury offer the best value for money for property buyers when taking into account quality of life and affordability.
