Armagh tops price growth table

Armagh in Northern Ireland has recorded the strongest house price growth seen in the UK over the past five years, according to a new study from Halifax Estate Agents.
The city has seen prices rise by 188 per cent over the past five years, and other Northern Irish cities have also seen strong price growth, the report added, with the other places in the survey's top four occupied by Newry, Lisburn and Londonderry.
Bradford, meanwhile, was shown to be the strongest performing city in Britain, recording price growth of 131 per cent over the same period.
"The strong performance of smaller cities, in particular, highlights that homebuyers are looking for attractive places to live in which also offer good transport links, easy commuting and convenient shopping," commented Martin Ellis, chief economist at Halifax Estate Agents.
The findings come shortly after a report by Rightmove revealed that asking prices rose by 2.7 per cent on the month in October.
