'Around 12%' of housing completions are self builds

The self build sector is a vital element of the housing market with self builds accounting for approximately 12 per cent of all completions, according to Mortgage Next.
As a result of this, self build represents an "important" opportunity for both mortgage brokers and homeowners, Gemma Harle, the company's managing director says.
Mortgage Next has announced it planning to host a workshop to explain the range of finance options available to people who are planning a self build or complete renovation of their existing property at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre on November 18th.
Ms Harle states the workshop will explain the range of mortgage facilities available to self builders and "explore the specific financial issues they have to address".
The National Self Build and Renovation Centre can be found in Swindon and is the UK's only permanent centre for self builders and renovators.
