Avoid equity problems with self build, expert says

A property investment expert has claimed that thousands of people who signed up for 100 per cent mortgages now face the prospect of negative equity.
However, Parmdeep Vadesha claims that one way to avoid problems with equity is to self build your own home.
Mr Vadesha says that anyone looking to build their own home can "buy the land below market value from a distressed seller to ensure immediate profits".
"Finding such properties is possible by locating genuinely motivated sellers," he suggests in EzineArticles.com.
An estimated 20,000 people embark on a self build every year so, according to Mr Vadesha, since the turn of the century 160,000 people will have little to worry about when it comes to negative equity.
On average, self builders are said to get more for their money as, for the price of an existing four-bedroom house, they can build a five-bedroom property in the style of their choice.
