Barratt looks to brownfield land

Barratt Homes has said that it is to target brownfield developments in a sign that its priorities have shifted from its traditional greenfield projects.
Earlier this year the government said that the use of public sector land would be crucial if housebuilding targets were to be met, and Barratt has now said that the "big opportunities" are coming from such sources.
The firm will focus on regeneration work across the Midlands and the north of England, Building.co.uk has said.
"The big opportunities are now coming forward from the public sector and this is what Barratt needs to be doing," said Stephen Kinsella, deputy director of the new operation, according to the website.
"We are putting Barratt on the regeneration map in a way it wasn't before," Mr Kinsella added.
The government has recently said that 74 per cent of current residential building projects take place on brownfield land, with this percentage having risen constantly over the past decade.
