Bristol comes out on top for UK growth

Email4Property.co.uk has reported that Bristol was the UK city that saw the strongest house price growth outside of London in 2007.
Prices in the city rose by 9.2 per cent over the year, the study found, helped by a strong showing by terraced houses, which accounted for 43 per cent of sales in the city in 2007.
Other areas where flats are more prominent, however, saw prices fall year-on-year, according to the study, with the drop amounting to some 5.5 per cent in central Birmingham.
"Since the turn of the century, many of the major towns and cities throughout the country have experienced large-scale regeneration in a bid to shed old images and rebrand in keeping with the capital," commented David Bexon, email4property.co.uk managing director.
"However, in some cases this has led to available housing disproportionate to the requirements of the local demographic," Mr Bexon added.
The average price of a home in Birmingham fell by 0.7 per cent in October, according to the latest figures from the Land Registry.
