Britain 'much more eco-aware than five years ago'

Homeowners in the UK are much more aware of environmental issues that they were in 2003, according to Ideal Home Magazine.
Isobel McKenzie-Price, editorial director of the publication, said that although there is a healthy degree of cynicism about celebrities fashionably promoting causes as a nation the UK is far more knowledgeable about green subject matters.
The editorial director said that "as a whole we are much more eco-aware than five years ago".
Ms McKenzie-Price has also called for "big businesses" to lead the way in terms of rethinking technologies rather than leaving it to individuals to self build their own ecohomes.
According to the Telegraph, prime minister Gordon Brown has promised that by 2016 all new homes built in Britain will be carbon neutral.
The newspaper also reported that there are thousands of people on waiting lists with developers and architects that are planning green housing projects.
