Britons critical of home developers

A new study investigating Britons' attitudes to environmental issues has revealed that a significant number are critical of the efforts of home developers when it comes to providing greener homes.

Sixty per cent of respondents to a ThinkProperty.com survey said that they did not believe that new developers were doing enough to help build new homes.

This figure rises to two thirds when those questioned were asked about the government's own plans, the study added.

The study also found that a third of homeowners were confused about the introduction of Home information packs (Hips).

"Clearly the introduction of Hips is not popular with home movers and many think that the government should be doing more to help home owners improve the energy efficiency of their homes," commented ThinkProperty.com managing director Mark Goddard.

The government plans to build three million new homes by 2020, with the emphasis on both affordability and eco-friendly constructions.
