Britons 'spending less time on interiors'

Half of all Britons believe that the mass-construction of property around the country is resulting in 'characterless' homes, a new study from More Than has revealed.
The research has also found that 60 per cent of new homeowners find it difficult to decorate their houses due to the high cost of buying a home in the first place.
On top of this, 48 per cent of respondents to the survey said that the popularity of home improvement TV shows was leading to a homogenisation of household interiors.
"Due to a housing shortage we are witnessing a new generation of development where houses and apartments are increasingly standardised both inside and out," noted More Than managing director Mike Holliday-Williams.
"Finding a unique property is more costly and difficult and secondly it often means that the new owners will have to spend more time and money personalising their homes to their own tastes," Mr Holliday-Williams added.
Britons have caused an estimated £350 million worth of damage to their properties as a result of copying home improvement shows, Halifax Home Insurance reported last month.
