Brits risking insurance to up value of home

Many Brits are risking a home improvement-based insurance claim in the pursuit of increasing the value of their property, according to a new report.
Research by price comparison website moneysupermarket.co.uk has found that millions of us are embarking on DIY to make our homes more attractive.
Some 45 per cent of Brits believe home improvements can increase the value of their property while 35 per cent say they do DIY just to make their home more aesthetically pleasing.
"It's no surprise we have a bevy of budding property developers out there," said Louise Cuming from moneysupermarket.co.uk.
"With house prices having escalated dramatically over the past five years, along with the cost of stamp duty and mortgage fees, many people are turning to home improvement instead."
And it isn't just retirees who are revamping their homes, research shows the most popular age for doing DIY is between 25 and 34.
