Brown 'to include housing minister in Cabinet'

Incoming prime minister Gordon Brown is include housing minister Yvette Cooper in his new Cabinet in an effort to place a greater emphasis on the importance of the housing sector, it has been revealed.
Mr Brown made the announcement in a speech made over the weekend, as he promised to pay more attention to the housing sector.
The move will be made later this week once Mr Brown takes over from Tony Blair as prime minister. The change will follow a series of calls made from the industry for the Labour leader to make addressing affordability issues a priority.
Over the weekend Mr Brown appeared on the BBC's Politics Show and said that he would provide "immediate" help to struggling homeowners.
"Half a century ago, housing became a national priority and there was a promise of a property-owning democracy, but then unfortunately it was just for a few. Now in 2007, housing will be a priority," the chancellor said in his speech at the weekend.
