Carbon Trust increases interest-free loans

Sustainable builders may interest to know the Carbon Trust has increased the size of its interest-free loans from £100,000 to £200,000.

The aim of the unsecured loans, which are payable over a period of up to four years, is to help small businesses install energy-saving equipment, reported Construction News Plus.

Hugh Jones, the solutions director at the Carbon Trust, commented: "We know that some companies found that the £100,000 limit made it hard for them to finance the more ambitious projects they wanted to invest in, such as large lighting installations, boilers projects, or multiple equipment purchases such as variable speed drives with compressors and heat recovery equipment."

Established in 2001, the Carbon Trust is an independent company which aims to promote the construction of a low carbon economy by reducing harmful emissions developing commercial technologies.
