Cavity wall insulation could

Self builders or renovators who insulate the cavities in their walls could stop having to turn up their radiators, it has been claimed.

According to PropertyConfidential.com, an extension is an "ideal opportunity" to consider insulating walls so that homeowners can turn down their radiators down and turn off the gas fire.

Cavity wall insulation can save hundreds of pounds a year and those who wish to create a green property could consider using natural options.

By using sheep's wool, recycled cotton or newspapers, homeowners can "create a healthier atmosphere in your home and become more eco-friendly too".

Simon Church, a project officer at residential energy efficiency solutions eaga, has claimed that cavity wall insulation can save "significant" amounts of energy.

The Energy Savings Trust states that the UK could save a total of £962 million a year if all houses had such insulation measures.
