Cheap homes due to demolition plans

The cheapest street in the UK is situated in Middlesbrough and a house on it costs an average of £21,290, according to a new report.
Houseprice.com has found that many properties in the north of England can still be bought for under £30,000 but Tower Green in Middlesbrough comes in as the cheapest, closely followed by parts of Yorkshire, the north-west and Humberside.
All 20 of the nation''s cheapest streets are in the north where right to buy schemes and regeneration or demolition plans in the areas have kept prices low.
Pockets of cheap housing in places like Blackburn are caused by the demolition of very old housing and government-inspired regeneration, according to the report.
The average asking price of a home in the UK has gone up by £3,281 from February to March of this year, research from online estate agent Rightmove reveals.
The average asking price is now £228,183 which is over £24,000 more than this time last year.
