Schoolchildren in Gloucestershire are to help with the construction of a new school hall as part of an innovative self-build project, it has been revealed.

A four week building camp will begin on July 27th and involve all the children at Wynstones School in Gloucestershire, officials have advised.

Local media reports indicate that nine Belfast trusses will be among the wooden features to be built at the camp, with the school looking for a way to avoid excessive building costs.

"With pupil numbers at around 300, there has been a pressing need for a multi-purpose space where all pupils could assemble in comfort and safety, where large cultural events could be held, where games and gym could take place," commented Charles Crittall, coordinator at Wynstones Steiner Waldorf, according to the Gloucestershire Citizen.

"As far as I can tell this is the biggest self-build project in the UK this summer," Mr Crittall added.

Property TV shows have caused a surge in the popularity of self-build projects in recent years, it was suggested earlier this week.
