Children would put a skateboard park in their self build

When children were asked to design their own home in Scotland, built-in skateboard parks, trampolines and a fireman's pole were some of the suggestions mooted.

The initiative, by housebuilder Redrow Homes, asked several primary school children to imagine they were embarking on a self build project and design their dream home.

Indoor football arenas, cinemas, swimming pools, aquariums, trampolines, a slide that leads into a bedroom and a lollipop garden were some of the weird, wacky and wonderful ideas submitted by the budding builders.

Diana Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (Scotland), said: "We were amazed at the imagination and creativity shown by all of the children who took part. Clearly we have some budding architects of the future and can look forward to some fascinating new homes from the next generation."

A self build project allows you to pick a plot of land and design a property from scratch, adding whatever features you have always wanted in a home.
