Conservatives angry at green house improvement plans

The environment is certainly on the government''s agenda at the moment but opposition parties are concerned that current legislation changes are not the best way to encourage Brits to live in greener housing.
Amy Fisher, the spokesperson for the Conservative Party, says that the government is currently planning to redesign council tax bands based on home improvements so that it can raise more money rather than out of sincere desire to help the environment.
She said: "Rather than encouraging people to make any eco-improvements to their homes this will deter them because they think their taxes will rise.
"That will result in no one making this move because it wouldn''t be a rational move."
Things like having a wind turbine on your property may ramp up people''s council tax bills when the government changes the current system so that home improvements are measured on an annual basis, not just when your property changes hands.
