Construction industry to enjoy 'sustained growth' until 2010

The next three years will see a period of sustained growth in the construction sector as the market matches overall UK economic performance, it has been predicted.
The Construction Products Association's (CPA) forecasts have estimated that growth will rise to 3.1 per cent this year, and while this figure is predicted to fall away slightly in 2008 it will rise again in 2009.
Improved economic performance and government investment will help facilitate such rises, the CPA suggested.
"The industry's prospects remain bright as Brown moves into Number 10. After two lean years, industry growth is expected to quicken and to be more broadly based," the forecast noted.
"There is increased confidence that things are looking better and we forecast that construction industry growth will strengthen to 3.1 per cent this year," it added.
Meanwhile the Chartered Institute of Building has launched a new initiative aimed at helping more female graduates into the construction industry.
