Couple hail ideal self built home

A retired couple in south Wales have hailed their home which was constructed by self build means as the perfect house.
Vincent and Cynthia Couch had moved several times during their marriage and had made renovations to their homes each time, but their self built home in Lisvane was the first they had ever lived in which met their exact specifications, reports the South Wales Echo.
Mr Couch told the paper: "We were able to get the layout of the house exactly the way we wanted and install much higher quality fittings than a commercialbuilder would have used."
The couple are now selling the home for £850,000 as they are looking to downsize, but have said they may use the self build method again in the future.
In other recent self build news it was reported by the Daily Telegraph that a scheme has been implemented the Cornish town of Rock to help locals build their own homes.
The plan, run through not-for-profit body St Minver Community Land Trust, will help locals to create their own homes and overcome the local affordability gap in which houses are an average of 11 times as expensive as the local annual wage.
