Demand for Hips 'exceeding expectations'

Demand for Home information packs (Hips) has exceeded expectations, Simply Hip has said, citing the fact that August is typically a quiet month for sales.

Last week it was announced that the packs, introduced for properties with four or more bedrooms on August 1st, would be rolled out for three-bedroom homes on September 10th.

Simply Hip, meanwhile, has said that the typical cost of a pack came in at just under £300 plus VAT, roughly in line with pre-launch predictions.

"We anticipated a slow uptake initially – although we were surprised with how many instructions we have received. On the first day we had over 20 instructions and its been 20-30 a day thereafter so we would say that [demand has been] in excess of our initial expectations," commented Simply Hip managing director Ashley King.

"Now the commencement order has been given for 3 bedroomed houses, [for most] that doubt has now gone – and it is a question of not if, but when the remainder of the market are going to be active," the MD added.
