Eco Fair comes to Cumbria

South Lakeland will be the home of Cumbria Green Build Fortnight, it has been reported.

The two-week event focuses on renewable energy, sustainable building proposals and various other cutting-edge green technologies in the building trade, the North West Evening Mail has reported.

Cumbria Green Build Fortnight is a series of over 40 tours, presentations, discussions and workshops on such topics as carbon-neutral buildings, wood chip fuel systems and sustainable furniture design among others.

On September 3rd there will be an open viewing of a timber frame home in Penrith that has no gas or oil fired central heating but "a high level of insulation, a wood burning soapstone stove, solar water heating and a heat recovery and ventilation system".

Richard Suddaby, from Cumbria Action for Sustainability, said the event includes numerous homes, businesses and organisations that are prepared to open their doors to showcase environmental features for people considering the self build option.

"Green Build Fortnight is a chance to see that solutions exist here in Cumbria and not just in places like Scandinavia or Germany," he added.

Last year the event included 47 presentations across 29 different venues.ADNFCR-833-ID-18750975-ADNFCR
