Eco house to prevent climate change

The ultimate eco house is being erected inside the Eden Project this spring in the hope that it will inspire people to take on the task of preventing climate change.

Between 8th and 10th June the so-called Green Garden will be displayed at the Grand Designs Live ExCel London show and visitors can enter it to see how people in four continents are coping with the aftermath of climate change.

For example, in the Latin America house you can see how people are trying to prepare for hurricanes and heavy storms as a result of deforestation while in the Asia home, the house is ready for flooding by being elevated on stilts.

One quarter of the house demonstrates how the UK can help to stop climate change by cutting down on its carbon emissions because 27 per cent of the UK's total carbon emissions come from homes.

The house is made from sustainable materials and uses green homebuilding techniques with gadgets like rainwater collecting systems, multi-storey tyre gardens and insect-repellent paint.
