Eco housing demand set to rise

The demand for environmentally housing is going to rise and rise, according to one property expert.
After a long-lasting debate the government has decided that Energy Performance Certificates are to be a mandatory part of the Home Information Packs which become compulsory for all those selling their homes after June 1st this year.
Julian Brookes, from a sustainability initiative called GreenHomes, said: "In the two years we have been running we have seen the number of people who use our website rise and rise every month."
He said the firm is seeing a growth in the demand for information and a growth in the demand for people using its website.
This year, he estimates that around 5,000 eco builds will come onto the housing market which indicates how important ecology is to the British public in 2007.
A survey backed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs says that 60 per cent of Britons now think green sustainability should be compulsory.
