Eco town petition grows

Opponents of eco towns have been signing a petition against the proposals on the Downing Street Website in their thousands, it has been revealed.
The idea has now seen 60,000 people - around 2,000 a day - logging their disapproval on the site, reports Contract Journal.
Arguments against the towns include suggestions that they are badly designed, not eco friendly and likely to spoil attractive countryside.
Should such opposition limit or halt the plans, those hoping to live in an eco home may be left disappointed.
Alternative ways of doing so may be to self build such a home, or renovate an existing home to make it greener.
Opposition to eco town plans has included local campaigns, such as that against the proposed site at Hanley Grange in Cambridgeshire.
Local campaigners staged a march through Cambridge last Saturday, reports the Cambridge Evening News.
