Edinburgh to ''benefit from greenbelt land use''

West Edinburgh might see an influx of new jobs if an area of greenbelt land is developed, according to Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian.
Businesses would be tempted to the developments on land surrounding Edinburgh Airport because there would be improved public transport links, according to the report which was produced by Bigger Economies.
Edinburgh Airport would be expanded with 24,000 new jobs expected.
Dave Anderson, the senior director of operations at Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian, said: "West Edinburgh area will be a crucial element in delivering a steep change in the future performance of both the city region and the Scottish economy.
"Ongoing investment in public transport will make the area one of the most attractive bases for large corporations."
The capital will not be able to accommodate growth within its current boundaries by 2020 according to city planners so the green belt has been proposed to be split into a few areas of which some will be developed.
