Energy efficient boilers 'will be more popular'

Consumers are likely to regard a home with energy-efficient plumbing as more desirable than one without, it has been suggested.

Senior technical engineer for the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (IHPE) Danny Davis, said this feature could make a major difference in the popularity of a home with green-minded consumers.

He stated: "Energy conscious consumers would certainly be attracted to a house incorporating both energy and water conserving technologies over a similar house without such measures in place."

Such features may be something which those keen to renovate their home to make it more energy efficient will look to get installed.

New boilers already have to be fitted to a Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK rating of A or B, under legislation which came into effect two years ago.

According to the IHPE these make boilers at least ten per cent more efficient in generating heat, using the latest condensing technology.
