Expensive town poses dilemma for buyers and renters

Those looking to buy or rent a house in the Herefordshire town of Ledbury face bigger hurdles than anywhere else in the county, it has been revealed.
A study by the county council in January for its latest quarterly economic bulletin showed that the town is the most expensive place in the county to buy an "entry level" home or rent, the Ledbury Reporter states.
Buying a one-bed flat in the town costs an average of £120,000, compared with £85,000 in Leominster, £80,000 in Ross and £79,000 in the city of Hereford.
Renting such a property would cost £350 a month, compared with £200 in areas such as Leominster, Ross and rural districts.
Those living in the area and put off by the high prices may decide to seek the self build method as a cheaper way of obtaining a home.
Ledbury is located between Great Malvern and Hereford and is well known for its timber-fronted buildings.
