Fire assistance good news, says NLA

Fresh guidance drawn up in a bid to enhance the overall safety of homes in terms of fire hazards has been praised by the National Landlords Association (NLA).
This week, the Local Authority Coordinators of Regulatory Services (Lacors), the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and Chief Fire Officers' Association released the help for homeowners and landlords, to try and raise awareness in this area.
And in response, chairman of the NLA David Salusbury said that they should be welcomed because previously confusing information will be collated, something that may be of interest to those planning self build properties.
"Fire safety legislation applies to all types of housing, whether it is owner-occupied, rented, single occupancy or a house in multiple occupation. The new Lacors guidance sets out recommendations for all these categories," he commented.
He added that such assistance can ultimately be created because of cooperation and strong dialogue between different parties.
Various pieces of advice are included in the publication, such as how property owners can assess how their portfolio can withstand a fire. Communities and Local Government also offered help in creation of the document.
