Firm reveals self-build sustainability device

Those looking to self build their homes can now do so in an eco-friendly way thanks to a new device which its makers say will "open a new chapter in self-build sustainability".

CME Sanitary Systems, which makes the Ecoplay micro greywater recycling system, has designed the system to take water from baths and showers and use it for toilets, meaning the same water is used twice, thus saving usage, wnibi.com reports.

The device is one of a number of actions self builders can take in creating their own eco homes.

Others may adopt elements such as living roofs that can capture water, provide insulation and encourage nature, or install microrenewable energy devices and use recycled materials.
Figures from Buildstore indicate that last year in Britain 36 billion was spent on self build construction.

In addition to this, a further £3 billion was used to buy the land upon which such homes were built, the Guardian reported last week.
