Going carbon neutral ''saves you money''

Making your home carbon neutral could prove a cost-effective decision rather than one which will leave you out of pocket, according to one green expert.
Ecos Trust, which campaigns for sustainable property development, says that planning permission no longer needs to be applied for when you are planning home improvements and some of these improvements may actually save you money on your energy bills, such as getting a wind turbine or roof insulation.
A spokesperson from the trust said: "If your home is more energy efficient then it will cost less to run and then in real terms that property will make great savings."
However the trust reminded home owners that planning permission for green home improvements hasn''t been completely ruled out and some individuals will still have the right to object to "a stonking great wind turbine in their neighbour''s back garden".
Renewable energy will be ruled out where it is intrusive, even when making homes carbon neutral, although leniency will be allowed in decision making.
