Government should 'invest more in insulation'

The government needs to invest more funds in beneficial schemes such as home insulation, it has been suggested.
According to Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg, any extra borrowing on the part of the government should be directed towards programmes "that will make a real difference to people".
He gave the examples of extra insulation, constructing social housing and reopening railway lines as some of the possible ways in which the government could help the general population.
"This would create jobs now and make sure that we build a green economy for the future," Mr Clegg commented.
Meanwhile, the Renewable Energy Centre has called on the government to regulate the loft and cavity wall insulation sector to ensure every UK household is able to cut their energy costs, not just green self builds.
Angela Gallacher, head of press and marketing for the organisation, said this would also have a direct benefit for the environment by reducing the UK's carbon footprint.
