Green ideas for your home

You are probably well aware of the need for homes to become greener, but if you are stuck for ideas as to how to do this then read the following tips from the Homebuilding & Renovating Show.

First of all rainwater harvesting, which allows homeowners to store rainwater in underground storage tanks and then, using pumps and filters, to use the water in the home for things like flushing the loo and watering the lawn.

Other forms of water collecting include grey water recycling which is where you use water from showers and washing up to recycle it for use, again, for flushing the loo and watering the garden.

Install a low flush toilet to save water and money because the average loo is by far the biggest user of water in the home.

Meanwhile things like solar panels and wind turbines can provide your home with renewable forms of energy and insulation can make sure that energy does not get wasted.
