'Green incentives' key to getting Brits onboard says expert

The government could succeed in reaching out to less well-informed homeowners if it were to provide tangible incentives for homeowners to become environmentally friendly, it has been suggested.
The National Insulation Association (NIA) has said that such measures would encourage homeowners to act when it came to altering the way in which they live.
Making green home improvements and DIY adjustments has become increasingly popular in recent months, with recent studies showing that many homeowners now have one eye on the environment whenever they make an alteration to their home.
"The danger is [the government's new carbon calculator] site could be perceived as 'preaching to the converted' only attracting those people who are already concerned about their environmental impact," commented NIA chief executive Neil Marshall.
"We think this is a great first step, but the government has to follow it up by not only encouraging people to visit the site, but also providing incentives for them to act upon the information they discover there," Mr Marshall added.
