Hips being shunned by buyers

Not a single buyer at Knight Frank Winchester has asked to see a home's Home information pack (Hip) before completing a deal, the property consultancy has said.

Hips were launched for homes with four or more bedrooms on August 1st, before being extended to three-bedroom homes on September 10th in an effort to provide more information to buyers.

But the comments from Knight Frank suggest that the packs are failing to catch the imagination of buyers despite the ability to view how energy efficient a home is.

"When we show a property for sale with three or more bedrooms, we always make it clear that there is a Hip available, however people choose not to view them. It's staggering, but true," commented Knight Frank Winchester Hips expert Tom Woods.

Hips will be rolled across the entire property market on December 14th, the government announced last week, ending months of speculation regarding the packs' future.
