Hips 'to clarify transaction process'

Home information packs (Hips) will make the process of selling a home more transparent, one estate agent has said.

Ludlowthompson has suggested that "the better agents" will be able to work around the purported problems that the packs will provide, pointing to its own policy as one such example.

The firm has said that it offers a Hip free of charge and predicts that other innovations will also soon be seen.

"The better agents will get geared up; and then when a property goes on the market, from a buyer's perspective – and for the seller, really – it's a much clearer transaction because you don't have to go through the conveyancing process that perhaps could cause problems later on," said Ludlowthompson director Stephen Ludlow.

"In terms of speed of transaction [Hips are] a good thing – the question is using the right solicitor and the right agent," Mr Ludlow added.
