Historical home improvements in Sheffield

A housing estate in Sheffield is to undergo a major transformation after locals agreed to transfer their houses to the Manchester Methodist Housing Association (MMHA).

The public sector news website 24dash reports that the group has promised to plough some £28 million into the Wybourn estate over the next five years, where 1,093 council homes are situated.

The association will begin by building new kitchens and bathrooms in those homes that do not meet its required standards and fitting doubles glazed windows and secure doors.

Planning is also underway to install new heating systems and additional insulation to improve energy efficiency and the roads within the estate will be revamped.

David Sedman, regeneration manager at MMHA, told 24dash: "There will be a raft of improvements to people''s homes and the whole environment at Wybourn.

"We''ll bring all homes up to a high standard and we''ll keep them that way for decades to come. People who''ve bought their own home will also benefit from improvements to the general environment."

Homes on four other Sheffield housing estates (Woodthorpe, Lower Manor, Harold Lambert Court and Manor Park) are to be transferred to housing associations for regeneration worth £70 million in total.
