Home improvements ''require adequate home insurance''

If you are planning some DIY or home improvements over the Easter weekend then make sure you get adequate cover just in case things go wrong, is the message from experts.
It is always wise to check whether you have accidental damage cover on your home insurance policy before setting off on a major revamp just as much as it is important for those going on Easter mini-breaks to get adequate travel insurance.
Richard Mason, from price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, said: "Bigger DIY improvements like a new kitchen or bathroom are likely to add to the value of your property, so you should contact your insurer to increase your cover accordingly."
You are also advised to check the details of your home insurance policy on an annual basis as the re-build value could also increase if improvements have been made.
Your Easter task list might include checking and repairing any damage sustained during the winter months such as damaged guttering, roof tiles, paintwork or windows.
