Homeowners are keen to

Many British homeowners are looking to become more energy efficient and lessen their affect on the environment, a new survey has revealed.

Conducted by Tescocompare.com, the poll discovered 53 per cent of homeowners are motivated to go green by the promise of money savings, with the rising cost of energy and fuel prices also mentioned.

Director of commercial and partnerships at Tescocompare.com Paul Baxter called on house holders to take "swift action" to make green changes.

"Our research offers an interesting insight into the different triggers that encourage people to go green. Homeownership clearly is an important point in people's life when they reconsider their impact on the environment," he said.

Homeowners who want to live in a more environmentally-friendly house may wish to consider self build or renovation options.

Graeme Trudgehill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, recently urged homeowners in flood-prone areas to fit defences to their properties.ADNFCR-833-ID-18671056-ADNFCR
