Homes firm says gardens can add to house value

Those self building or renovating a home may benefit from the development of a garden to add to its value, a home builder has suggested.
Gleeson Homes pointed to a recent Halifax survey as evidence that many are looking to add to their house values by enhancing their gardens.
In that survey, 35 per cent had said a better garden was the factor that could do the most to raise their house's value.
The firm quoted Royal Horticultural society tips that recommended improvements such as adding shrubs, hedges, fruit-bearing plants and Mediterranean species that are increasingly able to thrive in Britain due to climate change.
Julie Rayner, sales director for Gleeson Homes, commented: "The garden is a huge selling point of a house, and should be treated with regard when a seller wants to attract the attention of a buyer."
Finance website Moneyexpert.com stated this week that a new garden could add up to £6,000 to the value of a house.
