Homes make difference in insurance costs

Where you live is the overriding factor in how much you will pay for your car insurance, according to one car insurance company.

AA Financial Services say that things like car insurance are not affected by the way you drive or the amount of accidents which occur in your area, but simply by the standards in your local vicinity.

Charlotte Lidster, spokesperson for the company, said: "Most insurance is driven up if you live in an area of higher crime."

You can protect yourself against car crime by fitting a car alarm or an immobiliser to deter thieves or prevent the engine from starting.

Don''t leave valuables in your vehicle but if you have to then lock them in the boot and don''t forget that you can purchase special contraption that secure lap top computers in the boot also.

If you have a GPS system fitted then your vehicle can be tracked when stolen and an alert sent to police to let them know.
