Housing issues 'the same for all ages'

People of all ages have the same wishes and desires for housing, it has been asserted.
Speaking at a the recent Retirement Housing Conference, Mark Wagstaff, policy advisor to the Housing Corporation, stated: "Housing, whether you own or rent is a significant investment both financially and emotionally and these factors simply don't vanish the older one gets."
He noted that younger people now expect choice in many areas and argued this should be available in housing, while the young "consumers" of housing today would be the older ones of tomorrow.
Those looking to ensure their choice in housing is not limited by type of home to location may decide to go for the self-build option to establish a home that suits their needs and tastes.
Speaking at the same conference, property consultancy King Sturge's health consultant Anthony Oldfield said many housing developments for older people were being held back by red tape.
