Ideal home 'could take decades' to achieve

The process of upgrading and renovating properties to the liking of the owner is one that could last for many years before satisfaction is finally achieved, FirstRungNow has advised.

The first time buyer firm has said that those looking to get onto the property ladder should reconcile themselves to the fact that they will not be able to walk into a dream home straight away, and to budget accordingly.

With self-build having risen in popularity over the past few years thanks in part to property programmes on the television, many are now able to shape a property as they see fit, but for others this is not so easy, FirstRungNow managing director Helen Adams implied.

"Achieving your perfect home takes years - if not decades. Parents are usually keen to help their children live in a nicer environment and can be an enormous help," Ms Adams commented.

"New home owners can gradually upgrade as they go on, leading to a home they are very happy to live in and come home to," the MD concluded.
