Landlords and tenants just don''t agree

Landlords and tenants just don

There is a massive gap between what landlords perceive as a desirable property and what tenants look for in a rental home, according to a new report.

A study by the Homebuyer Show, a property exhibition, has found that while 70 per cent of tenants are desperate for their accommodation to be near leisure facilities and bars, just 45 per cent of landlords thought this was important.

Landlords deemed good decoration a vital factor in choosing a property whereas tenants were less bothered.

Tom Entwhistle, of website landlordzone said: "It is the major things that you can''t change that you have to get right location is the main thing.

"Decorating the house is something you can do fairly quickly."

Transport links are one thing which landlords and tenants did agree on with over 80 per cent saying good bus and train services were important.

Surprisingly it seems that being within the catchment area for a good local school is pivotal to landlords rather than to tenants.
