Latest technology to be used on ecohome project

A sustainable housing project in the Norfolk is set to utilise the latest technology in its construction.

The Suffolk Housing Society project in Thetford will see the construction of 15 eco-friendly homes and flats, reports the Thetford and Brandon Times.

An under-floor heating system will use air source heat pumps in the properties, while special insulation panels and sustainable building materials will also improve the properties' environmental credentials.

According to the Energy Savings Trust, air source heat pumps could save some £870 in heating bills and nearly six tonnes of CO2 annually.

Steve Clarke, Suffolk Housing Society chief executive, told the paper the organisation is excited about the project that will use "the latest environmental technologies" as well as contemporary architecture.

"This ground-breaking development will be a prime example of truly sustainable housing," he added.

Iceni Homes, Breckland Council, Brooks and Wood, and the Housing Corporation are working with Suffolk Housing Society on the £2 million project.
