'Less green homes' to be built next year

Anyone who wants to live in a new green home in 2009 may need to build it themselves, it has been suggested.
According to David Bexon, managing director of SmartNewHomes.com, far fewer green homes will be built next year as the downturn continues to affect propertydevelopers and their margins.
He claims that the government's green agenda is likely to "suffer significantly" on two fronts as fewer homes are built and the "financial strain on homebuilders means they have no choice but to cutback on these additional construction costs".
Mr Bexon says that there are a number of developers that are still going ahead with schemes, but these are likely to dwindle in the coming months.
Consequently, anyone looking for a green development may consider buying their own plot of land and building their own green dream home, with all the ecologically-friendly features they want.
